We're getting rid of this computer and I already have my new one. I have a ton of picture files that won't let me email them as whole files, just individual pictures that would take forever.
What is the best/fastest/cheapest way to transfer those?
Thank you!|||Buy a USB flash drive for like 20 bucks and transfer all your pics to it and upload to your new puter|||Cheapest way: if you have a home network, set up a shared directory and copy the files. If you don't have a network, buy or borrow a crossover network cable and use it to set up a network between the two computers.
Alternatives:
You probably have a CD or DVD burner on the computer. Burn the pictures to disks (make multiple copies, in case one goes bad). A DVD holds over 7 times as much as a CD, so you would need less disks. This is good for long-term storage too, and it is easy to store copies off-site (such as at a family member's house).
Depending on how much space the pictures take, a USB thumb drive is easy and very stable. If the files take more than about 8 or 16 GB, then an external (USB) hard drive will be more cost effective; you can get 320 GB for under $100.
Both of these alternatives allow the pictures to be used on any computer. For a combination of safety (to make sure you don't loose the pictures) and ease of use, do both - the CDs or DVDs for safety, and the USB drive for ease of use.|||If you have a router in your house you can sent both up on some home network, then share the files on the one computer, and copy them over to the other computer.|||by attaching large file in yahoo|||usb drive
