I know about wire transfers etc, I am looking to transfer money for a deposit to buy a house in the UK. This will be approximately $60,000 US and need the most cost effective way to transfer these funds. A 1% charge on $60,000 is $600 so it costs a significant amount of money to transfer money and getting the best exchange rate possible is very important.|||You didn't say who you are transferring the funds to.- yourself or a broker in the U.K.
With that kind of money involved, I would hope you would have an account already established in the UK.
It also depends on who you have an account here in the states with.
Best Banks to Bank with in the UK
1) Barclays Bank PLC
2) HSBC Bank|||put the cash in an envelope and send it to me. i will make sure it reaches its destination. I pay you 1000.00 for the service.|||An international bank would probably be the best way. Research one that has offices both where you're coming from and where you're going to, and ask what it will cost to deposit money in one country and then withdraw it in another.|||Speak to your bank.
Is there a Barclays Bank in your locale?|||ask your US bank about a foreign wire transfer.
mine charges $40 flat fee and handles the currency exchange in the process [for slight profit, of course].
safe and guaranteed effective -- takes one business day.
of course, you have to have the account in the UK open already and know its wire tranfer details -- which you get from your bank there.|||Write the amount on a cheque and send it there by post !!!|||just get a cashier check
